Focusing on the needs of congregations and other groups, these classes offer opportunities for spiritual growth and community enrichment. Participants will explore their personal connection with church teachings and practices, their own relationship with God, and the ways in which God calls us all to live out that relationship in the world.
Most classes will meet for about an hour each week as we reflect and expand on a common reading. Some possible topics include:
- what are we doing in worship and why?
- worship leadership;
- the rhythm of our worship life;
- the church year;
- the Decalogue and justice;
- food and justice;
- spirituality through artistic expression.
- Introduction to Spiritual Practices - An introduction to various spiritual practices from the Christian tradition.
- United Methodism 101 - A basic overview of United Methodist heritage, beliefs, and structure (history, doctrine, and polity).
- Our Purpose Is Love - A conversation about the Wesleyan understanding of grace and what it means to live that out as a church.
- Praying with Creation - An introduction to seeking and praying to God trough the primal elements of creation: water, wind, earth, and fire.
