Preaching

Preaching and Worship

Preaching and worship are central to Christian life and ministry. Worship is the primary place that the church body gathers as one. In worship we pray for each other and the world, we hear stories of ministry and faith, we hear the good news for our current lives, and we share in bread and cup. Worship is therefore integral to our formation as the continuing body of Christ in the world.

As a Deacon in The United Methodist Church, I am ordained to a lifetime ministry of Word, Service, Justice, and Compassion. All four of these facets are integral to the way I approach worship leadership. In particular, I have a specific calling to "give leadership in the Church’s life: in teaching and proclaiming the Word..." (¶ 328, The Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church 2016).

I have over 15 years of preaching experience. I have a Master of Divinity from a United Methodist seminary as well as advanced coursework in worship and preaching. I have preached in urban and suburban churches in the Detroit and Chicago areas as well as smaller cities in Georgia.
